Osun Osogbo and Generational Curses (4)

There are still other divine curses for those that involve in idolatry practices like worshiping of the mermaid spirit called Osun Osogbo. We had only mentioned one, which is divine death sentence in the previous part of this article. There are several others, though, we can only comment briefly on of them here:

Miscarriages, Infertility, Short Life, Sickness

Idolatry and worship of demons will always bring about the above calamities to man. This is quite contrary to the belief of the worshipers of Osun, who believe that the mermaid gives children, good health, protection and prosperity. Yes, they are being deceived and manipulated by the master of deception himself – Satan. How could a demon give you children? Can Satan create? He himself is a created being and thus, does not possess the power to make another life. Also, he or his demons can not protect, give good health or prosper anybody. All their pretenses are fake, dubious and manipulative. He pretends to give you money, but inflicts you with sickness, short life or take away one of your loved children or wife. He pretends to heal you or solve your problem, but will later inflict you with more terrible ones. Jesus knew him very well and that was why He rejected his offer to give Him the world and all its glory. He rather described Satan as the enemy who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy.

Now, back to what God is saying, “Do not worship the gods of these other nations or serve them in any way, and never follow their evil example. Instead, you must utterly conquer them and break down their shameful idols. You must serve only the LORD your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will keep you healthy. There will be no miscarriages or infertility among your people, and I will give you long, full lives. I will send my terror upon all the people whose lands you invade… ” Exodus 23:24-27.

Did you read that? Now, the implication of the above promises is that if you disobey God and worship demons, idols, mermaids, etc, the reverse will automatically be the case. You and your children will be cursed with miscarriages, infertility, short life, sickness, unproductive and incurable diseases, lack of favour, defeat, restlessness, fear, failure, etc. In fact, the word of God said that you will be running, looking for protection when no one is actually pursuing you. For miscarriages and infertility, it will not just be in reproduction, it will also make you aspirations, businesses, land, activities, efforts, projects and dreams, children unproductive. God has spoken!

There are yet other curses that also go with the worship of false gods – sorrow, shame, being hunted, lack of protection and filthiness. All these are direct curses from God and we have made enough comments on each of them. For those of you who have our book, please find them in the first chapter; where we treated idolatry and occultism. About filthiness, it means dirty, soiled and the word of God said that anybody that chooses to serve these idols and demons becomes just as filthy as they are. That is, God sees you as a very dirty person – contaminated and cursed. In the spirit, you also wear dirty, stained and stinking garments. No peace, no joy, no security, no sound mind, no fulfillment, no eternal assurance. And you already know that hell is also waiting for you. This is terrible!

Now, what do we do with demons, spirits and idols like the mermaid at Osogbo? We must stop their activities and influence, and also totally banish them from our lives and cities. Are these possible? Yes! Very possible! Through powerful persistent, strategic prayers, especially in the midnight, we can do it. Then, through aggressive preaching of the gospel in these places. After all, the spread of the gospel to Osogbo in the 19th and 20th centuries greatly reduced the influence of Osun. Let all Christians from Osogbo, Osun state and the entire Western Nigeria rise to the occasion. It took this kind of confrontation with the demonic supernatural beings for the gospel crusaders to Christianize the former Roman Empire between AD 100 – 400. Like Osun of Osogbo, the highly revered and dreaded principality – Diana of Ephesus; the great multiple-breasted Greek goddess had influence over the entire empire and made Ephesus the then occult capital of the world.

People like Paul did great work to destroy this demonic influence. Then, one day John walked into the very temple of Diana herself, he prayed ‘O God… at whose name every idol takes flight and every demon and every unclean power: now let the demon that is here in this temple take flight in thy name.’ The record has it that after this prayer, the altar of Diana split into many pieces! Then the other half of the temple also crashed to the ground. The assembled Ephesians began to cry, ‘There is but one God, the God of John… We are converted, now that we have seen thy marvelous works!” The members of secret societies, magicians, sorcerers, idol worshipers were converted. Occult books and materials worth millions of dollars were brought and destroyed publicly and the gospel prospered. These can also be done in Osogbo and in all other places were Satan and demonic powers still have control. Meanwhile, if you have been involved in any form of idolatry or occultism, this is your opportunity to repent and give your life to Jesus Christ. By doing these, you will save yourself and your next generations from curses and an impending judgment. You can write us for counseling. Share this message. Till next week, God bless!
