In Matthew 12:24-30 The Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan/Beelzebub and Jesus goes on to explain this. See this parable come to life with simple teaching.
This is called the parable of the divided Kingdom. This comes forth from something Jesus did. Jesus was always doing Kingdom things and rubbing certain people the wrong way and we captured in Matthew 12:24-30. It says:
“Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute;”
So this means he had demons in him that made him react. He was blind and couldn’t speak. The scripture goes on to say:
“and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
Which is a way of saying, “Could this be the Messiah?”
“Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every Kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his Kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the Kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
Now, it’s interesting. Overseas, witch doctors have got the power to heal. Witch doctors can heal people from demonic oppression. It seems that Hindu religion and different religions have got certain spiritual people that can do certain spiritual things. It seems that Satan can do these things in his own Kingdom. But what happens is he seems to bind the people even more. Through the power of the witch doctor, everyone gives more power to demons, and more power to the witch doctor. Satan wins in the end because everyone is worshipping the gods and everyone is worshipping the witch doctor and Satan remains in control.
Jesus said, “Every Kingdom is divided against each other is brought to desolation and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” You only need, and I say this in love, but you only need only one lover that doesn’t love you to break a marriage. Every house that is divided will not stand.
I heard a story about a man who was continually getting sick and continually having to go to the hospital because he couldn’t eat. He’d be put on a drip and after two months in intensive care, he’d come back out. Once again, he’d get sick and he couldn’t eat. He’d go to the hospital. He’d been to the hospital about five times. Then he called this preacher called Andrew Wommack to his house and said, “Can you help me out?”
Andrew saw someone leaving the house when he got there, a woman. And the guy described his condition. Andrew says, “I don’t know any reason.” The Holy Spirit had told this man invite Andrew and he’ll find the reason for his sickness. He told Andrew the sickness. And Andrew said, “Well, the Holy Spirit might have told you, but I don’t know the reason. Let’s pray.”
Andrew started to pray for the guy. He was about two sentences into the prayer and the Holy Spirit said to Andrew, “The problem is his mother-in-law. His mother-in-law is always cursing him.”
And Andrew finished the prayer, he says, “Who was that leaving? Was that your mother-in-law?”
And he said, “Yeah.”
He said, “Does she treat you well?”
He said, “Oh, she’s always in here, saying I’m no good for her family and no good and always cursing me. So I can’t work and I’ll always be sick.”
He said, “She says all these things and what else does she say?”
Andrew listened that the mother was speaking curses of sickness over the man.
Andrew said, “You’ve got to get rid of that mother-in-law. You can’t be well and allow her into your house. You’ll continue to be sick. She’s the problem.”
So the man did that and was healed and stayed that way.
Now, what am I saying? I’m not bringing a charge against mothers-in-law. I’m just saying that a house divided against itself cannot stand. The wife’s got to choose her mother or her husband.
Jesus said, the Scripture said in the Old Testament, Genesis, “For this reason, a man shall leave his mother and father, cleave to his wife and the two shall become one.” Many problems in marriages happen because either the male or the female haven’t left their parents. The in-laws are always niggling into their business and giving advice. The mothers and fathers need to take their hands off and let the child become a man and work out his own life.
So Jesus was using that illustration saying Satan cannot be operating his Kingdom like this. He was saying something like, “I can’t be healing people and casting demons out with the power of Satan. I mean everywhere I go I cast every demon out. Satan would be losing the battle because I keep on breaking his kingdom.”
He went on to say that there were exorcists that existed in the Jewish. Jesus said to them, “By whom do your sons cast them out therefore they shall be your judges.” The people that were casting the demons out in the Jewish life shall be the judges of the Pharisees to see which side the Pharisees were on. They could judge because the demons were coming out for them and those people will be able to recognize that Jesus Christ was casting them out through the Spirit of God.
Jesus went out to say that, “If I cast them out through the spirit of God, well then surely the Kingdom of God has come upon you.”
So the Pharisees were ordered to be judged by the people who were casting out demons in their own faith or to accept that Jesus was casting them out by the Spirit of God.
Now Jesus goes on to say binding the strong men and you can plunder his goods. Then he goes on to say, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
Jesus was saying in effect, “If you’re not for me guys, you’re against me. You can’t sit on the fence. You can’t sit on the fence on this issue or any other issue. You’ve got to accept that I’m the Son of God. You’ve got to accept that I’m the son of David, as they say I am. You’ve got to look at the signs and wonders that I am doing and say to yourself surely this man has got the power of God. Surely this man has got the authority. This man is making blind people see, making deaf people speak, casting out demons. He’s doing miraculous signs, the signs of a prophet. And this prophet claims that he’s the Son of God.”
This is what this parable is talking about. Is Jesus the Son of God to you? Is Jesus the Son of David? Was he born of David? Was he descended from David, the King of Israel like the Messiah was going to be descended from? Was Jesus really the Messiah? Is Jesus the Messiah?
See, so what’s the practical application? It means if you’re mute, if you can’t speak the Gospel, you’re mute, if you’re blind, if you don’t understand the Gospel and you’re blind to the gospel, if you’re demon possessed or your possessed by a demon or you’re affected by wrong theology or wrong voices speaking to you, all these things can be solved through Jesus Christ. The blindness, the spiritual blindness, can be corrected by being led by Jesus into truth. The muteness, the ability not to witness to your friends, not to share the Gospel with your friends, that can be corrected by a proper relationship with Jesus, a proper teaching from Jesus can give you the confidence. The joy, the love, the life can be possessed by you that will give you confidence, and give you a testimony so you can use to witness.
Many people don’t witness in this world because they haven’t got anything to witness to. Many people in this world don’t share their convictions. They don’t share their faith with other people because they’re sad and depressed themselves.
There are not more than 50% of Christians living in health, and vitality and prosperity and living a life where they’re fulfilled and loved..
